Ken Revell National Sales Mgr. Kick'n BassŪ,
I was fishing Lake Aquilla Creek in South Central Texas with the president of The Finger Rest Company testing our New Product ( The Finger Rest.)
Conditions: Cloudy day 90 degrees, water temp. 79 degrees. North east wind 10 to 20 miles per hour. Fish seem to be starting to begin summer pattern, drifting ( Carolina) Rig. I was using a 1/2 oz. Brass Bullet Weight & glass bead & 20 lb. Berkley Fire Line tied to a swivel. The leader was 15 lb. test green P-Line about 18 to 20 inches to the hook.
The key to catching fish today was the rigging & 1/0 Wide Gap (OWNER) Hook. At 1:30 P.M. in the hottest part of the day I started using this technique because last year it was 10 ft. low due to the drought & this year we have had lots of rain & the lake is over full. And with so much food for the fish and everything is flooded you would think they would be shallow in the grass. Using my electronics I found lots of fish in the 5 to 7 lb range in 7 to 12 ft. near 27 to 30 ft. drop offs. So I decided to experiment with 10" to 12" Plum & Blue Neon Zipper Worms with the New Kick'n BassŪ Anise/Shad scent. This was the biggest I caught but I had 3 more that would go around 3 to 3 1/2 lb.
The key to today's fish catching was to use the Owner Wide Gap 1/0 hook and The Finger Rest. This made the worm float up about 18" off of the bottom & by using the Finger Rest I was able to feel the very light bite.
Thanks to Kick'n BassŪ, Owner Hooks, & The Finger Rest for making my day a success. Ken Revell Arlington, Texas bassmanken@attbi.com
